The bar goes under
The bottom edge is a long, obvious, unguarded lip. It is the easiest place on the whole door to apply upward force, and it takes about four seconds to find.

Your factory latch holds the middle of the door. Dead Shut bolts the bottom rail to the concrete — the exact spot a crowbar goes in. One piece of galvanised steel. Nothing to charge, pair or subscribe to.
One-off purchase. Less than most insurance excesses, considerably less than a new door.

“With the padlock on, the bottom rail barely moves.”
Same door. Same force. Twice.
Left: the bottom rail anchored to the slab with a Dead Shut. Right: identical door, identical upward force, no anchor. One of those is a doorway.
The curtain deforms. The bottom rail stays on the slab. There is nothing to crawl through and nothing to get a hand around.
The same door, the same force, and a gap wide enough to reach through, hook the release, or get a shoulder under.
Test conditions, door type, slab quality, padlock and installation all affect real-world results. Dead Shut is one layer of a security plan, not a guarantee against forced entry.
The weak point
Factory locks secure the latch in the centre of the curtain. Nobody attacks the centre. They attack the bottom corner, because that is where a bar fits and where the leverage is.
See the three-step install →The bottom edge is a long, obvious, unguarded lip. It is the easiest place on the whole door to apply upward force, and it takes about four seconds to find.
Thin interlocking slats over a wide span will move even with the centre latch engaged. The latch holds. The metal around it doesn’t.
A few hundred millimetres at floor level is all it takes to reach the internal release, or to get a body through and work on everything behind it in private.
How it works
Fit it once with a hammer drill. After that, it’s a padlock — a few seconds every time you close up.
Close the door, sit the anchor at the bottom rail, mark your fixing points. Measure it properly here and the rest is easy.
Drill the concrete, bolt the floor anchor down with the supplied masonry fixings, and fit the bracket to the bottom rail.
Drop your padlock through the anchor and the bracket. Unlock it before you operate the door. That’s the whole routine.
No app to update. No battery to die. No subscription to forget. Just steel doing its job. If you can drill a hole in concrete, you can fit this before lunch.
In the box
One complete hold-down kit for one door. We leave the padlock to you, because everyone has a keying system and an opinion.
Send a clear photo of the bottom corner — rail, guide and the concrete at the door line — and we’ll tell you straight whether Dead Shut suits your door, usually the same business day.

Straight up
Every other security product on the internet will tell you what it does. Here’s the other half, so you can decide before you buy instead of after.
Given a grinder, an hour and no witnesses, anything comes off. Dead Shut makes your door slow, loud and awkward — which is what actually moves an opportunist to the next building.
Asphalt, pavers, tiles and crumbling slabs are out. The supplied fixings need sound concrete at the door line. No concrete, no anchor.
Unlock the padlock before you touch the remote. Run a motorised door against a locked anchor and you’ll be shopping for a motor, not an anchor.
Roller door profiles vary more than they should. Send a photo of the bottom corner first and we’ll tell you if it’s a no — including when it is.
From the field
Feedback from Australian installs — where it went on, how the install actually ran, and what changed once the door was anchored.
“Solid bit of kit. Instructions were clear and I had it fitted to the garage door in about fifteen minutes, and I am not a tradie. With the padlock on, the bottom rail barely moves.”
“We trialled one on the workshop shutter before ordering for the other doors. Easy enough for our maintenance guy, and a lot more convincing than trusting the factory latch on its own.”
“Best part is how boring it is. No wiring, no app, no notifications. Lock the anchor when we shut the workshop, unlock it in the morning. That’s it.”

Straight answers
Dead Shut is intended for standard residential roller doors and many commercial roll-up or roller shutter doors with sound concrete at the door line. Door profiles vary, so email a clear photo of the bottom corner and slab if you want us to confirm fit before ordering.
Because a better lock protects the same place the old lock protected. Centre latches, bolts and shutter locks all hold one point in the middle of the curtain, and none of them stop the bottom rail lifting at the corner. Dead Shut is not a replacement for your lock — it covers the part your lock was never designed to cover.
Most competent DIYers can install it with a hammer drill, the correct masonry bit and basic hand tools. If you are unsure about drilling concrete or the condition of your slab, use a qualified installer.
No. Different homes and sites use different keying systems. Dead Shut accepts padlock shackles up to 10 mm; a weather-resistant, closed-shackle padlock is the better choice for cut resistance.
Yes, but Dead Shut must be unlocked before operating the door. Never run the motor while the anchor is locked. Treat it like any other manual lock on an automatic door.
One kit creates one physical hold-down point. Very wide commercial shutters or doors with significant corner flex may benefit from a kit at each side. Send the door width and a photo if you want a recommendation for your setup.
The supplied fixings are for suitable concrete. Asphalt, pavers and damaged slabs need a different engineered fixing method or a concrete footing. Do not use the supplied masonry fixings in an unsuitable base.
Kits are dispatched from Australia within one business day of your order and shipping is free anywhere in Australia. Metro deliveries typically arrive in 2–5 business days; regional and remote areas take longer.
No — and we’d rather tell you that up front than bury it in the terms. We don’t do change-of-mind returns, refunds or exchanges, which is exactly why the fit check is free and why we’ll happily tell you Dead Shut isn’t right for your door. Email a photo of the bottom corner before you order. See our Terms for full details.
Yes. “Roller door” is the common Australian term; “roll-up door” or “coiling door” is more common in the United States and Canada. Dead Shut is a roller door security anchor designed for compatible doors with sound concrete at the door line.
